Is your man checking out other women? Could he be cheating on you? Do you blame yourself, thinking you aren’t good enough? We’re going to address these and what you can do to understand why this is happening, talk about it, and how to not blame yourself.

Disloyal man with his girlfriend looking at another girl

When in a relationship, you and your partner have made an agreement to give yourself to one another, and only each other. Unless you are in an open relationship, going out with other people is forbidden. When done behind our back, this is called cheating and is grounds for termination of the relationship.

If you have noticed your man checking out other women, there are various reasons for this. One being that your man may not be fulfilled in his current relationship with you. It tends to be harder for men to speak up and talk about how they’re truly feeling. So in a relationship, he may want something from you that you are unable to provide, or are unaware is lacking in the relationship.

Another reason is that he feels you are too clingy, emotional, or something else that he doesn’t partially like. Relating to reason one, he may be unable to actually talk about this, but he could see a problem with you specially. Maybe to him you weren’t the person he thought you were. He might have been expecting something else.

Confused boyfriend and his clingy girlfriend

And another reason could be that he is a chronic cheater and unable to be committed to anyone. Human relationships are complex, and men are sometimes less committed than women are. He may not want commitment, but just a physical relationship for a short period of time before moving on.

Cheating and getting with another woman is a reason to break up, which may need to happen if you cannot work anything out. But first, you should have a discussion with him. Talk about how this is making you feel. Try to get him to view it from your perspective. Sit down and have a serious conversation about it.

What if instead of seeing a problem with your man, you instead blame yourself? Women tend to blame themselves more than men do. Women tend to have more body image issues than men do. So, it’s understandable that you may blame yourself, think he doesn’t love you anymore because he’s not giving you attention, looking at other women, and so on. However, it may not be you at all. Hear him out and he will let you know. If he feels you are too clingy or have low self-esteem, it’s up to him to be open about this. However, usually in a relationship, there is a missing piece that neither person is seeing, so getting help from an outside source may be beneficial. Communication difficulties are very common.

Self-blame emotions, guilt and self-disgust woman

Regardless of the reason, you deserve to be respected and treated well in a relationship. Your man should respect your wishes and be devoted to you no matter what. If you catch him looking at other women and it bothers you, then speak up and let him know. Have a respectful and calm conversation about how it’s making you feel and see if you can find some common ground. You can make it through any difficulty. That’s why you’re in a relationship to begin with. So, don’t give up or lose hope unless there is nothing that can be worked out. And then, take what you learned from the relationship to better your life so you can attract even more meaningful relationships.

Let me know how this works for you. Have a great day!

Additional Info

I’ve seen it plenty of times – a man cheating on his woman because he is unable to speak up about what is lacking in the relationship. However, it also happens the other way around. It’s not specific to men or women, but humans in general. However, the initial request I got was specifically about men checking out other women, so I went with that as the title.

Regardless, I understand how difficult it is to speak up. You may feel insecure or like your partner may break up with you for speaking your mind, but you must do it if you want to work on the issues you are having in the relationship. It’s hard, but it’s the best way to resolve issues and have a sense of relief.
