Shocking Reasons Why You Should Never Consume Low Fat & Fat Free Foods
Summary: Is excessive fat intake causing you to gain weight and leading to heart disease? Or is the lack of fat that's causing it? You'll be shocked to know what the culprit actually is.
Low fat and fat free foods have become increasingly popular over the years, and are often promoted as a way to lose weight. However these foods are often more unhealthy than the full fat versions of the food for numerous reasons.

The whole idea behind consuming less fat is so that fat doesn’t turn into fat on your own body. By consuming less fat, you’ll lose weight and be healthy. That, of course, is the theory. However, there is very little truth to this statement. Fat is not the main contributor to weight gain, but rather sugar and carbohydrates are. Let’s break this down.
Fat is required by every cell of your body for proper health. You need fat in your diet and fat at each meal to help absorb nutrients. Various vitamins, such as vitamin A, D, and K, are fat soluble, meaning they are only absorbed by your body when taken with fat and are stored in the fat of your body. These are the three most beneficial vitamins and without enough fat, you’ll slowly become deficient. Unlike water soluble vitamins, such as B vitamins, not getting enough fat soluble vitamins will lead to a deficiency over time, and will also accumulate over time. If you’re deficient and take a supplement of any of these, you won’t notice anything for a while since it takes time to build up in your body. And if you’re not taking the vitamin with fat, you likely will not absorb it. If you’re consuming low fat and fat free foods, you’re unlikely to absorb these essential nutrients for health and over time will become deficient without knowing the cause.
It’s important to understand the types of fats and the health benefits of them. There are so many types of fats, and in the modern world, many are actually unhealthy and can lead to heart disease and weight gain. Fat will not lead to weight gain, but oil can depending on the types of fat it contains. Various unhealthy oils such as vegetable oil, canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, and hydrogenated oils are often cheap oils that come from genetically modified crops and have no health benefits. Some of these even convert to trans fats when heated and will increase your LDL cholesterol while lowering your HDL, which is the complete opposite of what you want. And they can lead to obesity when consumed. However, oils such as coconut oil and olive oil are among the best. Olive oil should not be heated for the majority of the benefits. Coconut oil is primarily saturated fat, while olive is primarily monounsaturated fats. There have been studies that make the claim that coconut oil is unhealthy and can cause heart disease and high cholesterol, but it simply is untrue.

We also cannot forget animal fats, which are not oils. Beef tallow, ghee, and omega-3 fatty acids are among the most popular animal fats that are primarily saturated fat for tallow and ghee and polyunsaturated fat for omega-3s. Contrary to various studies that try to prove how unhealthy they are, the truth is the inverse of the claims. Is your burger unhealthy because it’s cooked in tallow, or is it unhealthy because it’s cooked in vegetable oil? The latter is the culprit.

Lastly, let’s discuss what causes weight gain. It is sugar and carbs, not fat. Foods that are low in fat may be high in sugar and carbs, leaving you craving more as your body is starving for nutrients that you are depriving it of. The longer you go, the more deficient you become as you actually gain weight when being on a low fat diet. Fat is not the enemy. Rather, it’s obsessive sugar intake that will lead to a variety of health issues. Many people can actually lose weight by consuming more fat. Many people have lost weight by being on a ketogenic diet, which means high fat and low carbs. The ideal diet, however, will depend on what works best for your body. So listen to it, cutting out the junk and sugar, and you’ll feel much healthier.

Additional Info
Ever since I had a meal without fat that made me feel really bad, such as extreme tiredness and even dizziness, I’ve added fat to everything I eat and make sure it has plenty. I’ve known that fat is an essential part of the diet, and thus never consumed the low fat version of items. I prefer the full fat. I would consume coconut oil daily, and it didn’t raise my cholesterol levels at all. However, animal foods did raise my cholesterol. It didn’t raise them to the point of having high cholesterol, but still higher than before. But, with healthy fats and exercise, you’ll be fine.
