This one thing is so important that it’ll change your life and allow you to realize that everything that has happened so far is all by design, to help you learn and grow. This one thing is gratitude. The ability to be thankful for the things you have, and what you want, will change your life.

There is a specific way of going about being grateful. First you must recognize the negative mindset you presently have when it comes to your life. Are you more pessimistic and complain that you don’t have the things you desire, upset with your finances, living situation, spouse, job, etc.? If so, then that’s the place to begin. The things you have in your life right now is as a result of actions you have taken to lead you there. You may think it’s out of your control, but it is your life and you have control over every aspect of your life by the actions you choose and the thoughts you have. Begin being thankful that you have a place to live, disregarding the quality of it. Be thankful you have water and food to eat, since there are plenty that don’t have this luxury. And be thankful you have a job to bring in some amount of money, even if it’s not enough to fully support your lifestyle. The moment you begin to be thankful for the things you have, your whole world begins to change.

After you have begun being thankful for the things you have in your life presently, you begin to see how your actions and thoughts are directing your life. You can then take it a step further and be thankful for your ideal life. Even if you don’t have the ideal job, be thankful for your ideal job. Be specific and be grateful. Maybe you don’t have much money, well be thankful that you make large sums of money each month. Use positive affirmations, writing them down and repeating them. These affirmations can include, “I am grateful that large sums of money come into my life,” and, “I am so grateful that I make __ a month,” inserting the amount you wish to make. There is no goal that is too high, but also keep it realistic enough so that you will believe it.

The whole idea of this exercise is to allow these affirmations to become part of your subconscious and literally change your reality. When you begin to change your subconscious mind, your reality changes as you start to manifest the things your subconscious resonates with. Thus, if you reprogram your subconscious mind with the affirmations of your ideal life, then you will attract that.

Do this everyday and you will notice a difference in your life. It will literally change before your eyes as you begin to resonate with how you wish your ideal life was, as it becomes reality instead of just a fantasy.

I used to complain about not having the things I truly desired, even dwelling in the things I didn’t have. I learned to be thankful for the positive and negative things in my life and it made a huge impact. Instead of focusing on how bad my life was, I could’ve instead been focused on being thankful that the negative experiences taught me important life lessons to improve my life.
