Hi everyone! This is going to be a video about the current hair removal device I am using, the Silk’n Flash&Go. Back in 2013 I reviewed the VISS IPL hair removal system. I’ll have an annotation and a link in the description to that video. [VISS IPL] I recommend viewing that video first to get an idea about what IPL hair removal is and how much the VISS machine helped me achieve pretty much a hair free body and face. The reason why I purchased this unit was because the VISS broke and I saw this unit and thought it was pretty nice due to the size. The intensity may not be as much as the VISS, but it is faster, and the bulb lasts a lot longer, which, when I ordered it, I bought the Luxx bulb which can last for 120,000 pulses, versus their standard one which only lasts for 5,000 pulses. A good investment if you plan on using it a lot. Which speaking of the cost, it is about half the price of the VISS. The Silk’n cost me about $300 for the unit and extended flash bulb, normally it goes for about $200 for the standard bulb. The VISS on the other hand I purchased for like $500. So, definitely cheaper, but maybe not as powerful. But, it will save you a lot of money when you use the extended bulb since you don’t have to keep buying bulbs.

But anyway, coming from a previous IPL machine, I cannot say to you that it completely got rid of my hair, because the VISS machine did that. However, when the VISS machine broke, I stopped doing any treatments for several months and did notice hair coming back on my body. I noticed it on my legs as well as the pubic area and underarms. However, the face didn’t really seem to change. I then purchased the Silk’n and after a few treatments, that excess hair that had come back started to go away. I personally treat my body once a month. One session I will do on my legs which takes about an hour total, maybe a little more. And another day I do my face, underarms, and pubic area, which takes only a few minutes. All the treatment spots have either very little hair or fine, sparse, scattered hair. I shave my body only once a month a few days prior to the treatment, and you cannot really notice otherwise. Seriously, my legs, after a month has passed and it’s time to shave again, you can see hair, but it’s not really noticeable due to how sparse and thin it is. It’s lighter in color. The one thing I will say though, and this could have to do with the intensity, the VISS machine got rid of practically all my underarm hair. Whereas the Silk’n doesn’t. It’s certainly less, but I do occasionally have to shave again between sessions. And mind you, I was not even using the most powerful VISS unit at the time, since a newer one has come out since making my previous video.

As for treating the areas, the surface area of the device is smaller than the VISS. However, the benefit is that it recharges faster, in that when you treat an area of skin, it takes a shorter amount of time for it to cool down and be able to flash again, resulting in quicker treatment times. Also, it feels comfortable in the hand when holding it. It didn’t come with these awesome glasses that the VISS did, but I use these since it’s imperative to protect your eyes when operating the device since the light can be blinding. So, don’t look directly at it and perhaps purchase some glasses.

It has five levels of intensity. The higher you go the more you will feel it, which is primarily a hot sensation. Depending on the level of intensity, these bars will light up. There are also two lights on the side that will blink when it is ready. After you press this button to emit the pulse of light to your skin, it will take a few seconds for you to be able to treat the next spot. But, ideally you want to emit the pulse of light, and then wait, move it, and then do it again. All of that takes time. There is even a light that will turn on when your cartridge is about to be out of pulses. I’ve not run into this problem yet, and I’ve been using this for, probably a year and a half at this point, but that’s because I have the 120,000 pulse unit.

If you are interested in this device and hope it’ll help you as much as it helped me, please be aware that it works best for people who have light skin and dark hair. The reason is because the light the unit emits will target dark pigments. If your hair is light or gray, it will not help you, and if your skin is dark, it will burn your skin. Also, be aware that this is IPL, it’s not the same as laser hair removal or electrolysis. However, it’s still effective, at least for me. So, be aware that this isn’t permanent hair removal. It is classified as permanent reduction of hair, which may grow back after months and years of not having it treated. So, in order to achieve results, you have to keep up with it. I’d recommend purchasing directly from their website, as I’ve read that counterfeit items have been on the market from different sellers. Best to buy the real thing.

So, that is the Silk’n Flash&Go hair removal system. It’s helped keep the hair off my body. I use it once a month and only shave once a month. It takes some time to treat the areas, and if you’re brand new to hair removal, it’ll take time to start seeing any results at all due to how hair cycles are. But, in the end I find it to be worth it since I don’t have to worry about shaving continuously. Feel free to share if you use any hair removal device or had it professionally treated. And, I hope this video was informative and helpful. Thanks for watching!

Additional Info

This was my second IPL hair removal device and I like it quite a bit better than the VISS, primarily because it is quicker and easier to hold in the hand. It may not be as powerful and I don’t see as much reduction in some areas of my body, primarily the underarm area. But, it does its job and was a good investment which cost a lot less than not only professional treatment, but also the VISS.
